Yoga guru Ramdev has taken a tough stand on the 50% tariff imposed by the US on India. He called it “political hooliganism, bullying and dictatorship” and appealed to Indian citizens to completely boycott American companies and products.
Appeal to boycott American companies
Ramdev said that if Indian citizens completely stop using American companies like Pepsi, Coca-Cola, KFC, McDonald’s and Subway, then there will be chaos in America.
“Not a single Indian should be seen at the counter of Pepsi, Coca-Cola, KFC, Subway or McDonald’s. If this happens, there will be chaos in America and inflation will increase so much that Trump himself will have to withdraw the tariff,” Ramdev said in a conversation with ANI.
Accused Trump of taking ‘anti-India’ steps
Ramdev’s statement came at a time when the US imposed 50% import duty (tariff) on India from August 27.
The US had initially imposed a 25% tariff in early August.
After this, President Donald Trump announced an additional 25% tariff citing India’s business relations with Russia.
In this way, a total of 50% tariff has been imposed on India.
Ramdev called it a “serious mistake against India” and said that Trump has made a big mistake by targeting India.
Warning of impact on US economy
Ramdev claimed that if the Indian public boycotts American products together, it will have a direct impact on the US economy.
The income of American companies is largely linked to India.
A large-scale boycott will increase inflation in the US and Trump will be forced to withdraw the tariff.
