The two-day ‘Rangeelo’ dairy and livestock festival was organised by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and its wholly-owned subsidiary NDDB Dairy Services (NDS) at Shri Karan Narendra Agriculture University in Jobner on February 27–28.

During the milk competition, the HF cow owned by Hisar-based farmer Pawan Kumar recorded a production of 64.44 kg of milk in 24 hours, setting a historic benchmark at the event.

In another category, a Gir breed cow owned by Mukesh Kumar Chaudhary from Ajmer produced 26.78 kg of milk in 24 hours, emerging as the top performer in its breed category.

Other breeds also registered notable production levels, with Sahiwal cows producing up to 23 kg of milk, Tharparkar 14 kg, Rathi 18 kg and Jersey cows 37 kg, while Murrah buffaloes recorded a maximum production of 23 kg.

NDDB Chairman Dr Meenesh Shah said the festival was not just a competition or exhibition but an effort to take scientific dairy management practices to the grassroots level.

“When milk production is recorded through transparent and scientific methods, it strengthens farmers’ confidence and helps them understand the true productivity potential of their livestock,” he said.

The milk recording at the competition was conducted in three stages using scientific methods to ensure transparency and reliability, organisers said.

The festival also featured demonstrations of advanced dairy technologies, experience-sharing sessions by progressive farmers, technical and policy discussions, and cultural programmes reflecting Rajasthan’s folk traditions.

Experts said such events encourage farmers to adopt best practices, improve breed management and connect with modern dairy services, while providing a common platform for farmers, experts, cooperatives and industry representatives.
