Benelli Dong Electric Scooter

New Delhi: Benelli Dong Electric Scooter: Italian automaker Benelli has introduced a new electric scooter for the Asian market — named as Dong. The scooter is designed by the Chinese parent company of Benelli, the Qianjiang Group. However, the company has not yet disclosed that in which markets of Asia this scooter will be launched. Currently, the company has disclosed its price only for the Indonesian market.

A 1.2kW motor has been used to power the Dang scooter, which is limited to a top speed of up to 45kmph. At the same time, the company claims that this electric scooter is capable of giving a range of 60 km in a single charge. It has a 1.56kWh swappable battery. If we estimate based on the Indonesian price, it has been broadly priced at Rs 1.9 lakh.

This Benelli e-scooter is equipped with a curvy front apron, which goes to the rear section in a cylindrical shape. It has an under-seat panel under the battery and electric motor. The company will make it available in three colour options – Blue, Dark Gray and White. Other highlights of its design include full-LED lighting, a circular LED DRL, handle-on turn indicators, large grab rails at the rear, and a negative LCD for the instrument cluster.

The vehicle is designed by Chinese automaker Qianjiang Motors and is priced at 36.8 million Indonesia Rupiah or Rs 1.89 lakh. As the scooter is designed for short-distance urban traffic only, there is no possibility that it will launch in India.
