New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki plans to enter the C-segment SUV category in the new year with an all-new model. However, the company has not given much information about this new car. But according to reports, it could be a 7-seater Suzuki Vitara, which the company is already selling in worldwide markets.
In India, Maruti’s new 7-seater SUV car competes with Hyundai’s upcoming SUV Creta 7-seater car, Tata Gravitas and New Generation Mahindra XUV500 ranging from MG Hector’s 6-seater car and Jeep Compass SUV car with seats Three will be in line.
More information about the new Maruti 7-seater SUV car is likely to be revealed in the coming days. There are speculations that the Suzuki Vitara to be introduced in India will be called ‘Maruti Grand Vitara’. Its ex-showroom prices are expected to start above Rs 10 lakh.
Petrol engine for the first time in Brezza
However, in the new year, the company is also going to introduce the BS6 facelift version of its most popular SUV, the Vitara Brezza . The petrol engine will be used for the first time in the new version of the Vitara Brezza. It will also get 1.5 liter SHVS petrol engine as well as some feature updates. Currently, the Vitara Brezza only comes with a diesel engine. Maruti sold 1.58 lakh units of its most popular SUV, the Vitara Brezza, in 2018-19. At the same time, Maruti will stop giving diesel engines in its vehicles from April 2020.
Not only this, the company will also launch the next generation model of Vitara Brezza in 2021.
Brezza’s platform will be in the new SUV
According to media reports, the new 7 seater SUV from Maruti Suzuki will be based on its much sold Vitara Brezza platform. The special thing is that in the Global NCAP crash test, Vitara Brezza got 4 stars in safety standards.
How much will cost
The price of the new SUV car will not be revealed. However, such speculations are being made that its price will be close to the price of Vitara Brezza. The new car will now come with a new engine as per BS-6 emission standards and competition with competitors in the market.
Maruti will not take engine from Fiat
Maruti is currently using a 1.3 liter diesel engine sourced from Fiat in Brezza. While the new 1.5-liter diesel engine is designed by Maruti’s R&D team. Maruti launched the Brezza in March 2016. The 1.3-liter DDiS 200 engine of 4-cylinder coming from Maruti gives 89 Bhp of power and 200 Nm of torque. At the same time, it gets 5 speed manual gearbox and 5 speed automatic gearshift.
