Netflix revised plans: Targetting Indian consumers, the video streaming platform Netflix has reduced the subscription plans by up to 60 per cent. Now, the Rs 499 plan would cost customers Rs 199. Similarly, the mobile-only monthly plan has been reduced to Rs 149 from Rs 199 earlier. The announcement is expected to increase competition in the market as other OTT platforms are also looking to change their strategy for the Indian market.
Here’s the list:
The premium plan that allows access to four different devices at the same time will cost Rs 649 from Rs 799 earlier.
The standard plan that gives access to two devices at the same time will be Rs 499 from Rs 649 earlier.
The announcement has come at a time when Netflix’s close rival Amazon Prime has announced to increase its annual plan to Rs 1,499 from Rs 999 earlier. However, Prime also offers exclusive add-on offers like free delivery on ordering from Amazon and a music service.
According to an estimate by Media Partners Asia’s (MPA), Netflix is far behind in terms of subscription customers across the world and it is expected to add 5.5 million subscribers by the end of this year.
