Lineman Diwas: The Central Electricity Authority (CEA), a statutory body under the Ministry of Power, in collaboration with Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd (Tata Power-DDL) organised the Fifth Edition of ‘Lineman Diwas’, in New Delhi on Tuesday. The day is celebrated to recognise the contributions of linemen and ground maintenance staff— who are considered the backbone of power sector.
The event witnessed various cultural and creative performances — including dance, stage show and inspirational talks by linemen and linewomen in which over 160 people from over 45 state and private power distribution, generation, and transmission companies across India, came together to share experiences, challenges, and key moments in maintaining an uninterrupted power supply.
Manjunath’s performance steals the show on Lineman Diwas


Manjunath a lineman from Karnataka serving with the Bengaluru Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) received great applause for his stage show performance narrating the life of a lineman — Siddhappa.

Manjunath has been associated with theatre from the age of 15 and used to show his talent at various occasion. His dedication for theatre reflected in his performance and the thing caught attention was the language of the show. Despite being a Kannada, his gave performance in Hindi so that people can understand the story. Manjunath can’t speak and fully understand Hindi, but he prepared for the show very well that forced dignitaries to appreciate him.
Apart from Manjunath, there was another dance performance by a group of linemen and the most unique thing about this performance was no age restriction approach of the participants. The group had participants from very young to mature linemen who performed on “Chak De India” title song.
Additionally, the event served as a vital platform for exchanging ideas, discussing best safety practices, and fostering collective learning among participants.
