Doctor brother, engineer sister held for defrauding ₹16 crore

The Economic Offenses Wing of Delhi Police has arrested brother and sister in a fraud case of ₹16 crore. The arrested brother has done MBBS from AIIMS, Delhi and sister is a software engineer. The main accused started an app based business with the complainant and then after committing fraud by selling the complainant’s shares at a low price and expelling them from the company causing a loss of ₹16 crore to the director.

According to the branch’s special commissioner Ravindra Yadav, the arrested accused have been identified as Cherian, a resident of Panchsheel Enclave and Meenakshi, a resident of Bengaluru. In the year 2021, Noida Sector 134 resident Dr Gandharv Goyal had complained against the accused siblings in the branch. In which both the accused have been accused of buying their shares for nine hundred rupees by taking fake signatures and then selling them to new investors for ₹16 crore.

The victim told that she and Cherian had studied MBBS from AIIMS, Delhi. The duo opened a company named Synapsica Technologies Pvt Ltd. Whose office is in Jasola and Cherian’s sister Meenakshi Singh also joined the company with the vision of developing the software. Software work without radiologist doctor CT Reports were to be prepared for scans, X-rays as well as MRI but later Meenakshi became a shareholder of the company.

In the year 2019 December, the company got selected in Y-Combinator and then investors had invested ₹5 crore in the company. To increase the business in America, a company was opened by the name of Synapsica Healthcare Inc. During police investigation, it was found that Cherian and Meenakshi formed the company in the US to attract more investors in their company and then later bought the stake in the company.

Police on Wednesday arrested both the accused siblings from Wild Rock Resort, Dindigul, Tamil Nadu. During investigation, it was revealed that Cherian started an app based business with Gandharv Goyal structured on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the health sector but when investments in the company flourished, Cherian along with his sister forced Gandharv Goyal out of the company. Cherian has completed MBBS from AIIMS, Delhi. While Cherian’s sister Meenakshi Singh did her B.E. (Computer Science) and MBA from IIM.
