Bareilly: In an inhumane act, the Uttar Pradesh Police hammered nails into the hand and foot of a man for allegedly not wearing a mask.
The victim, Ranjit, has lodged a complaint in the Baradari police station and blamed the police. The incident took place on May 26 but the video and pictures of the act surfaced on social media on Wednesday.
The man in his complaint has said that a constable and two-three other people allegedly manhandled him and hammered nails into his hand and foot. He said that though he had the mask in his pocket but before he could wear it the constable started beating him.
“They tied my hands and nailed my hand and feet. I cannot even properly hear from my left ear as it is bleeding. The cop who nailed me lives in our locality. I can recognize him. They have now slapped eight cases against me. I am a poor man and hardly earn 150-200 a day as a ragpicker,” he told reporters.
However, the police denied the charges and said that the man has done these all to evade arrest as he is wanted in another case.
Bareilly SSP Rohit Singh Sajwan said that the man is wanted in another case. He had misbehaved with the police and an FIR is lodged against him in Baradari police station. On Tuesday, the police went to his house but he was not there. Now, he has done all this drama.
