Congress protest: Delhi Police have detained Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and his sister and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Both were detained after joining Congress’ nationwide protest against inflation and unemployment. Rahul Gandhi was detained from Sansad Marg in Delhi.

Rahul Gandhi addressed a press conference on Friday morning at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters in the national capital. During this, he fiercely attacked the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). At the same time, his party is doing a nationwide movement today against inflation and unemployment. During this, many MPs including Rahul-Priyanka were seen in black clothes.

On the detention of Rahul Gandhi, Delhi Police DCP Amrita Guguloth said, “We have taken him into custody as Section 144 is in force here and dharna is not allowed. We also informed them but they did not listen, so we have taken them into custody.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and former Uttarakhand chief minister Harish Rawat were detained by the police during the Congress party’s protest against the central government over inflation and unemployment in Delhi. Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda, who was detained during the protest, said, “We want to raise our voice on inflation and unemployment. This government is working to spoil the future of the youth. Today we want to raise our voice regarding inflation and unemployment in the country but we are targeting us.

Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge was also seen in a black dress during the Congress protest at Vijay Chowk. “We are protesting peacefully against inflation, unemployment, hike in GST rate among other issues,” he said.

Congress leader Ajay Makaan has justified the police action by the agitation. “Inflation and unemployment are at their peak. The Congress party is protesting nationwide against inflation and unemployment. We are being detained and it is a pity that we cannot even hold Satyagraha.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said, “We want to show the public on the way that whatever government is speaking about unemployment, inflation, all is not right. We are free to show it. Once inflation was discussed in the House but the government rejected it. Once they go to the markets and see.

This agitation over inflation and Agneepath: Chidambaram

P Chidambaram, who was the Finance Minister in the UPA government, was also seen in a black dress. Talking to the media during the agitation, he said, “This protest is about inflation and Agneepath. Inflation affects everyone. As a political party and as an elected representative, we are bound to raise our voice for the burden of the people.

There is an atmosphere of fear in the country: Gehlot

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said, “People are deeply saddened by the excuse of inflation, unemployment and GST. People are unable to speak because of fear, so much fear has arisen. The government does not understand. Democracy is just in name in this country. You are sending those who disagree with you to jail. Neither the media is speaking on this nor the public is able to speak. If this thing is not understood then people will take to the streets and the government will face problems.

Gehlot further said, “I have never seen such a ban which is in place in Delhi today. Even when BJP or other parties were in opposition, there have been many rallies, there was no stop. If a rally is taken out in a peaceful manner and people join, it opens the eyes of the government, but this government wants to miss out on this too.
