Actor Aamir Khan has urged the audience to watch the film and not boycott it, amid a campaign on Twitter to boycott his film “Lal Singh Chaddha”. Thousands of posts have been posted on micro-blogging site Twitter calling for boycotting the film ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’. However, some people have also posted appealing to support the film. It is an official remake of the 1994 Hollywood film Forrest Gump.
Khan (57) said in a group interview, “Boycott Bollywood (boycott Bollywood)… Boycott Aamir Khan (boycott Aamir Khan)… Boycott Lal Singh Chaddha (boycott Lal Singh Chaddha)… ‘hashtag’ run I feel sad because of it. Also not true.’
Several posts on Twitter calling for a boycott of ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ reminded one of a 2015 controversy. At the time, Khan had said that he had become alert to several incidents of growing “intolerance” in India and that his then-wife Kiran Rao had suggested that he should probably leave the country. Khan said that he loves India. Also, urged his fans not to think anything else.
“I really love the country… that’s how I am. It is unfortunate if someone thinks otherwise. I want to assure everyone that this is not an issue, so don’t boycott my film, please watch my film. Some people on Twitter also criticized the film’s heroine Kareena Kapoor Khan. Laal Singh Chaddha is releasing worldwide on 11th August. The film is directed by Advait Chandan. The film also stars actress Mona Singh and actor Naga Chaitanya.
