Nawazuddin Siddiqui says, ‘I don’t believe in tags like star, superstar or megastar’

Mumbai: Nawazuddin Siddiqui started his career with small roles in films like Sarfarosh, Shul and Munnabhai MBBS. Let me tell you that he had to go through 12 years of struggle to prove himself and get the character he wanted. Le Qin Anurag Kashyap’s film “Gangs of Wasseypur” changed his destiny and since then he has proved his acting in many projects like Badlapur, Raees, Raman Raghav 2.0, Thackeray, Manto and Sacred.

Although Nawazuddin Siddiqui has many fans today, he still does not like to put himself in the category of “star”. Regarding this, he said, “I don’t like to call myself a star. I don’t believe in such things, after being recognized as a star, superstar or megastar, artists are stereotyped in the industry and they do the same thing.” To do. ” He went on to say that “a true artist is the one who plays different characters, but if you get caught in the star category, you are left in the limit. However things like star and superstar are just marketing strategies, so I don’t like to be called a star. ”

At the same time, Nawazuddin also says that this title of “Star” stops the development of an artist. He said, “I don’t want to be stuck in the comfort zone. It is very important for an artist to go beyond his comfort zone and do something. That’s why I want to be versatile. If I start thinking of myself as a star I can be proud and this can hamper my skills and development. ” However, the 45-year-old tried his hand at romantic-comedy after playing serious roles one after another in Manto, Thackeray and Sacred Games. Recently he has appeared in the comedy-drama “Motichur Chaknachur”.
