Agartala: Usually people from the metro and small cities head towards hill stations to find peace of mind and have a glimpse of natural beauty. But sometimes a question arises that what should the natives of these hilly areas do to relax their mind and body?
This was the motive behind organizing a sound therapy session. In north-east India, sound therapy is becoming popular day by day as the people who don’t have time to work out and do yoga, meditation etc. can give themselves a break with it.
Keeping this in mind, a sound therapy session was organised at the Fitness Planet Gym near motor stand in Agartala, where many people participated and took benefit of the therapy. “As I run a gym, I believed in physical power but when I tried sound therapy I got to know that mental health is similarly important. This motivated me to organise a sound therapy session for people… along with fitness it gave me a sense of social service. It’s quite satisfactory,” said Biswajit Banik, the organizer of the session.
“Earlier, I couldn’t believe that people in north-east can be a huge fan of sound therapy…as soon as I came here and started doing sessions I noticed a sudden spike in the number of attendees. Nowadays, the situation is that the people don’t want to miss any session of sound therapy…it doesn’t matter for them that at how much distance it is taking place, they just reach and take the benefits of the therapy,” said Mohan Dhand, sound therapy and reiki coach.
Sound therapy is a therapy in which we cure people with sound and waves, said Dhand, adding that actually, with the help of different size of ‘sound bowls’ we produce various kinds of sound which heal people from inside.
The sound waves produce vibration in the body and mind and deliver a sense of satisfaction and relief.
