Apple is preparing for its “Awe Dropping” event, which is scheduled to take place on September 9. In this event, the company will introduce the iPhone 17 series. The most talked about among these is the iPhone 17 Air, which is being said to be Apple’s first e-SIM Only smartphone, which will be launched in the global market.
e-SIM Only model: New experiment now worldwide
Apple first experimented with the e-SIM-only phone with the iPhone 14 (US model), which did not have a physical SIM slot.
Now the company is planning to implement it globally.
According to reports, Apple has instructed its authorized retailers in Europe to complete e-SIM training by September 5.
The thinnest and lightest iPhone
- Thickness: just 5.5mm
- Weight: less than 150 grams
It is being called Apple’s slimmest and lightweight iPhone ever.
However, some compromises can also be seen due to its compact design.
Camera and battery
- Rear camera: There will be only a 48MP single camera, no dual or triple setup.
- Battery: The battery will be kept small to maintain an ultra-slim profile.
Display and performance
- Display: 6.6-inch ProMotion OLED panel
- Refresh rate: 120Hz
- Front camera: 24MP, which will be great for selfies and video calls.
This model will come between the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max in size.
Apple’s strategy: Step towards digital connectivity
Apple believes that e-SIM is more secure than a physical SIM, as it cannot be removed if stolen.
With the adoption of e-SIM increasing globally, the iPhone 17 Air could be a test model for Apple.
Will Pro and Pro Max also be e-SIM Only?
It is not clear at the moment whether the e-SIM-only change will be limited to the iPhone 17 Air or will also be implemented in the Pro and Pro Max models.
But it is certain that this decision advances Apple’s vision of all-digital mobile connectivity.
This iPhone can bring a big change in Apple’s thinking not only in terms of design but also in connectivity.
