Coronavirus menace: 324 Indians evacuated from Wuhan via Air India flight

New Delhi: Air India B747 aircraft arrived here on Saturday morning carrying 324 Indian nationals from Wuhan city affected by Corona virus in China. Officials said the plane reached Delhi at seven thirty in the morning. An Air India spokesperson said that five doctors and a paramedic of the Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital were on board the aircraft. The spokesperson said the Indians brought from Wuhan include three minors, 211 students and 110 working professionals. The Indian Army has set up a center at Manesar near Delhi to isolate people brought from Hubei province in China. Officials said that a qualified team of doctors and other personnel will keep an eye on these people for two weeks to see if there are any signs of infection in any of them.

An Air India spokesperson said at 1.19 pm on Friday night, “The special aircraft with 324 passengers left for India from Wuhan. He can reach Delhi at seven thirty in the morning. “Earlier, the Air India 423-seater B747 aircraft had left Delhi airport at 1.17 pm on Friday to evacuate Indian nationals from Wuhan. After the Air India spokesperson said on Friday that another special flight to take back the Indians from Wuhan could leave Delhi Airport on Saturday. Is.

The spokesman said of Friday’s flight, “The aircraft carries a team of five RML physicians, a paramedical worker of Air India as well as medicines, masks, overcoats, canned foods prescribed by the doctors.” Along with this, a team of engineers, security personnel is also present in this special aircraft. The entire operation is being led by Captain Amitabh Bhasah, Director (Expeditions), Air India.

The spokesman said that five cockpit crew members and 15 cabin crew members were present on Friday’s flight. Air India chairman and managing director Ashwani Lohani said on Friday, “There will be no service on the aircraft.” Whatever foods will be there will be kept in the seat pocket. Since there will be no service (between crew members and passengers), there will be no contact. ”
The government had contacted 600 Indian people living in Hubei province of China to seek their return. Hubei province of China is most affected by this virus. The death toll due to Corona virus infection in China increased to 259 on Friday. A total of 11,791 cases have been confirmed.
