The death toll in the violence that erupted in the north eastern region of the national capital Delhi has risen to 28 today. Another death has taken place at the Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) hospital in Delhi today (27 February). The death toll in Delhi violence is likely to increase. It also includes 2 deaths at the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital. About 200 people are injured. The task of controlling the situation has been given to National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval. The Ministry of Home Affairs has kept a close watch on this entire matter. Delhi Police has said that 106 people have been arrested and 18 FIRs have been registered for their alleged involvement in the violence. Violence has been taking place in Delhi since the evening of 23 February. But it became more violent in the last two days.

United Nations Secretary-General’s spokesman on Delhi violence Stephen Dujarik has said that the Secretary-General is deeply saddened by the reports of casualties after the protests in Delhi. As he did in similar circumstances, he has asked for maximum restraint and avoid violence.
