New Delhi: People will be relieved by the decision to allow e-commerce companies to sell all kinds of items including non-essential items like laptops and refrigerators in ‘Orange’ and ‘Green Zone’ during Lockdown. Companies have said that this will also help millions of small and medium enterprises and traders to resume business. The government has extended the lockdown to 17 May with restrictions on air travel, trains and inter-state road transport. However, various commercial activities and movement of people have been exempted in areas with limited cases of corona virus infection (Orange Zone) and areas free of infection (Green Zone).
Under the new rules, e-commerce companies in the red zone with more infections can still supply only essential items. However, essential and non-essential items can be supplied in both the Green and Orange areas.
Delhi and Mumbai people will have to wait
All major cities including Delhi and Mumbai have been included in the Red Zone. Therefore, you will not get the benefit of this discount in such cities. An Amazon India spokesperson said, “We welcome the government’s decision to allow e-commerce in the orange and green areas.” Millions of small and medium businesses and traders will now be able to resume business. The spokesman said that the company “will follow the new guidelines regarding the Red Zone.” “The government has taken the right decision by exempting the e-commerce supply of non-essential items in the green (green) and orange (orange) areas,” said Srinivas Mothe, senior vice-president, Paytm Mall.
He said that customers were eagerly waiting for some relief in the lockdown guidelines to buy products such as air conditioners, refrigerators and even summer clothes. People are also eager to buy laptops, mobile phones, computer hardware and stationery to continue work and study from home. People will get a big relief from this step.
A Snapdeal spokesperson said that the announcement made by the Home Ministry paves the way for the gradual start of various economic activities including e-commerce in different parts of the country.
During the day, the Union Health Ministry had listed 130 districts of the country in Red Zone, 284 in Orange Zone and 319 in Green Zone. This classification of districts is to be followed by the states and union territories till May 10 and then this list will be amended on or before weekly basis if required.
