Lockdown in India: Infection surging in 16 states, complete lockdown in Bhopal; Here’s the detail

Lockdown in India

New Delhi: Coronavirus cases in India are again surging day by day with 16 states including Maharashtra, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh reported a drastic number of new cases. According to the data, every sixth new case in the world is being found in India. In terms of total patients also, India has overtaken Brazil to the second position. India is behind only from the US. On the other hand, in Madhya Pradesh’s capital Bhopal, it has been announced to impose a complete lockdown as Corona cases increased. The entire lockdown will be imposed in Bhopal from 9 p.m. today to April 19.

The severity of the epidemic can be gauged from the fact that once America and Brazil were reporting more cases from India but now India alone reporting more cases than the total infections in these two countries.

In the last 24 hours, there were 1,68,912 new cases in India, while about 48,000 new patients were found in America and about 38,000 new patients in Brazil.

According to the Union Health Ministry, cases of infection are increasing rapidly in Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, and Bengal. Due to increasing cases in these states, the total number of infected people has exceeded 1.35 crore. There are 1.34 crore total infected in Brazil and 3.19 crore in the US.

During this period, 904 more people have also died due to corona infection. This is the largest number of deaths due to the epidemic in one day since October 18, 2020. With this, the number of fatalities has reached 1,70,179. So far, more than 1.21 crore patients have been cured out of the total infected, but the recovery rate of patients has come down to less than 90 per cent (89.86 per cent). However, the good thing is that the death rate is also decreasing and it is currently at 1.26 per cent.

Total lockdown in these cities including Bhopal

The government has imposed the Corona curfew in the capital Bhopal till 6 a.m. on April 19. The decision has been taken after the city received 824 cases in the last 24 hours. Home delivery from grocery stores will be possible during the Corona curfew and vegetable and milk shops will be open. Banks and petrol pumps will remain open. However, the vendors will be allowed to sell fruits and vegetable on the cart. Earlier, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan in a meeting with the Crisis Management Group of the districts had decided to impose the lockdown on 12 cities. These include Indore, Jabalpur, Ujjain and Vidisha. The decision said that the lockdown would continue till 6 a.m. on April 19 in urban and rural areas of Barwani, Rajgarh, Vidisha districts to control the corona infection. It has been decided to keep the lockdown in Indore, Rau, Mhow, Shajapur and all cities of Ujjain district till 6 a.m. on April 19. The government has decided the lockdown in Jabalpur city, Balaghat, Narsinghpur and Seoni districts from the night of April 12 to 6 in the morning of April 22. A lockdown of 7 to 10 days is already in place in many cities of the state.

Maha government may take a big decision

In Maharashtra, the coronavirus infection has gone out of control. In such a situation, the Uddhav Thackeray government of Maharashtra is going to put a lockdown to break the chain of corona infection in the state. However, when will the lockdown take place? It has not been mentioned by the government. Due to the rapid increase in the cases of Covid-19, the Maharashtra government decided on Monday to postpone the 10th and 12th examinations to be conducted by the state board this month. The 12th board examination in the state was scheduled to start from April 23 and the class 10 examination would start from April 30. It is clear from this decision of the government that the government can announce the lockdown in a day or two. On the other hand, Maharashtra Government Minister Aslam Sheikh said on Monday that the government can make a big decision in the next 2-3 days. The only way to break this chain is for the government to bring a lockdown-like situation. I question the management of the central government that if Maharashtra has the highest number of cases then why are they giving the lowest vaccine.

Speed of corona uncontrollable in UP

The second wave of Corona in Uttar Pradesh has taken a terrible form. The number of infected patients is steadily increasing. After Lucknow, the number of active corona patients is more than half in five cities of UP. There are more than 50 per cent active cases in Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Kanpur and Gorakhpur. On Monday, 13,685 new people appeared in Uttar Pradesh, while 72 people died, including 3,892 infected patients in the capital Lucknow. Talking about the active cases of Uttar Pradesh, there are a total of 81 thousand 576 active cases. Out of which about 58 per cent of patients are from Lucknow (23,090 patients), Prayagraj (9,273 patients), Varanasi (8,021 patients), Kanpur (4,360 patients) and Gorakhpur (2,416 patients).

Active case exceeded 12 lakhs

Active cases mean active cases have been increasing for 33 consecutive days. At present, the active cases have gone up to 12 lakhs, which is 8.88 per cent of the total infected people. In the first wave of the Corona epidemic, the maximum number of active cases was up to 10.17 lakh in September. Since then, they started declining and on 12 February last year, their number had come down to 1.35 lakhs.
