Bhopal: An incident of flaunting the Covid-19 norms during a wedding in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara is breaking the internet after the reports came that the mob allegedly pelted stones at the police party on Wednesday when it went to stop the function as more than 200 people were gathered there. The restrictions are in place following the rising cases of coronavirus infection in the entire state.
According to the information, On Wednesday, the police received information that over 200 people have been gathered in a marriage function taking place in Tamia area of Chhindwara district. Acting on the information, Tehsildar Manoj Chaurasia, Police station In-Charge Preeti Mishra and their team reached the spot to exhort the people about the restriction. But the people allegedly pelted stone at them in which four officials including Mishra got injured.
But a day after the incident, the local media reported that Mishra had allegedly kicked the tribal bride, vandalised the venue which was prepared according to the tribal rituals.
“It’s shameful and condemnable. The video and pictures of the incident that have surfaced have been provided by the police and the administration. This is one-sided and incomplete information, said Vasudev Sharma, district head of the Unorganised worker congress.
He said that the tribals who can not even face the TI properly, can’t attack them. The way Mishra reached the function of a poor tribal family, was objectionable.
“Mishra entered the house wearing shoes and reached the worship point, she then kicked the bride and vandalised the religious arrangements. She also verbally abused the women present there. Moreover, she beat the people having food inside,” he further said.
According to Sharma, the villager got angered only after Mishra disrespected their god.
Mishra is responsible for the incident (stone-pelting), he emphasised.
Some villagers were arrested by the police and the investigation is on.
