Nagaland firing: 11 killed in firing, CM Neiphiu Rio orders probe

New Delhi: Nagaland firing: At least 11 people were killed in a firing incident in Nagaland’s Oting in Mon district on Saturday. Following the incident Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has ordered a probe along with appealing to people to maintain peace. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to investigate the incident.

According to media reports, It is being told that mistaking some people as terrorist security forces opened fire at them resulted in the killing of many of them. Consequently, people turned angry and set afire the vehicles of the security forces.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed grief over the incident. Amit Shah tweeted, “Pained by the unfortunate incident at Oting in Nagaland. I express my deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the incident. A high level SIT set up by the state government will conduct a thorough probe into the incident to ensure justice to the bereaved families.”
