Three laborers are feared trapped in a stone mine in Markundi area of Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh. In the Obra mining area, 6 workers were buried after a part of the stone mine collapsed. Out of which three laborers have been evacuated.
Collector S. Raja Lingam said that two laborers Rajendra (32) and Rampal (22) were evacuated from a mine located in Markundi mining area under Obra police station and were sent to Obra hospital. Another laborer has been rescued in the early hours of Saturday. He has been referred to Varanasi in a critical condition.
Senior officials have also reached the spot. Debris removal has started with the help of pokelen machines. The District Magistrate said that 3 more laborers are feared trapped in the mine.
The National Disaster Rahal force has also been called to help in the rescue work.
Meanwhile, taking cognizance of the incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed senior officials to reach the spot and expedite the rescue operation. He has also instructed to provide proper treatment to the injured.
