New Delhi (Online Desk). After the election of the new Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, now the time has come for Venkaiah Naidu to bid farewell to this post. Dhankar got 528 out of 725 votes in the election of vice-president while his rival Margaret got only 128 votes. In this way he defeated Alva in this election by 346 votes. Dhankar got about 74.36 percent votes in this election. After Dhankar was elected as the Vice-President, it is now the turn of Venkaiah to bid farewell. Let us tell you that Venkaiah got the post of Vice President on 11 August 2017. His term will end on August 10. After this, he will join the list of former Vice Presidents. Let us tell you that after retiring, he will continue to get many facilities even as a former Vice President.

The facilities available to him after he is relieved from the post of Vice President are given under the Vice-President’s Pension, Housing and Other Facilities Rules, 1997

  • The President’s Pension Rules 1962 have also been amended by the Centre.
  • Under this, the President gets one lakh rupees per month on retirement and 90 thousand rupees per month for the Vice-President. This also includes their office maintenance expenses.
  • Under this, a bungalow is given to the former Vice-President from the Centre.
  • The Central Government also bears the maintenance expenses of the house given to the Vice-President from time to time.
  • The former Vice-President is allowed to have a private secretary, an additional private secretary, a personal assistant, two watchmen and an office. 60 thousand rupees per month is paid to the former Vice-President as allowance for all these expenses.
  • After the Vice-President retires, he continues to get the benefit of health facilities as before. Apart from this, this facility is also available to his wife and minor son or daughter.
  • The former Vice President is provided with high-end rail, air and steamer facilities, including his wife and minor children, to travel anywhere in India.
