New Delhi: Weather Update today: With active Monsoon conditions over most parts of the country, rains will continue over North and Northwest India this week. After a break of more than three weeks, the Southwest Monsoon has advanced into Delhi and the remaining parts of North-West including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan on Tuesday, July 13. On Tuesday, most places in Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi recorded rain for the second consecutive day. At the same time, heavy to very heavy rains were also recorded at isolated places in Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Weather Update today: Heavy rain likely here in the next 2-3 days

Weather Update today: The easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal, which have entered the region late last week, will continue to cause scattered rain over parts of Northwest India during the next 2-3 days. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy to very heavy rains are likely over Uttarakhand and western Uttar Pradesh during the next five days.

At the same time, similar conditions of heavy rain are likely to prevail in Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday and again over the weekend. Similarly, there is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places over Rajasthan and the eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh from Wednesday to Sunday. The rains are expected to intensify from the end of this week till the beginning of next week, due to incessant rains, there is a risk of a flood-like situation in the areas of North Ganga. In Uttar Pradesh too, there is a possibility of lightning with moderate to strong thunderstorms during the next 24 hours. Earlier this week, nearly 50 people were killed in lightning strikes in the state.

Weather Update today: Yellow Alert and Orange Alert issued

Weather Update today: IMD has issued a yellow alert in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan from July 14 to 16. At the same time, inclement weather is likely to increase in parts of Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand till July 17. Therefore, an orange alert has been issued in these places. The yellow alert is in effect at other places in North and Northwest India including Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Rajasthan.
