The celebration of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) IPL victory turned horrific on Wednesday after at least 11 people lost their lives and many others, including a six-year-old girl, were injured in a stampede outside Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The death toll is expected to rise.
According to officials, the victims were taken to Bowring Hospital in Shivajinagar, where officials confirmed the fatalities. The incident reportedly occurred near Gate No. 3 of the stadium, where fans had assembled in anticipation of the RCB team’s arrival for the victory parade.
Crowds began gathering around the stadium early in the evening, with supporters eager to catch a glimpse of the players and the IPL trophy during the open-bus procession from Vidhan Soudha to the stadium.

The streets around the central business district were heavily congested, with traffic movement severely affected. Police struggled to manage the situation as fans continued to arrive by road, metro, and on foot.
As the crowd swelled, a stampede-like situation unfolded at one of the gates. Several ambulances were seen ferrying the injured to hospital. Rain around 5 p.m. may have further contributed to the chaos.
Prior to the team’s arrival at the stadium, the players were congratulated by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar at Vidhan Soudha.
Meanwhile, nezigen gave a sharp reaction to the incident. Check some of the posts below:
