Shivratri Puja: The festival of Mahashivratri is being celebrated on 26 February this year. This festival has special significance because according to beliefs, Lord Shiva accepted Goddess Parvati as his wife on this day. 2025 Shivratri Puja Muhurat and Shubh Samay
• Mahashivratri Parayan Tithi Start: 26 February 2025 at 12:09 PM
• Mahashivratri Parayan Tithi End: 27 February 2025 at 02:46 PM
• Nishith Kaal Puja Muhurat: 26 February 2025, 12:10 AM to 01:00 AM
Four Prahar Puja Timings:
First Prahar: 06:00 PM to 09:00 PM
Second Prahar: 09:00 PM to 12:00 AM Midnight
Third Prahar: 12:00 AM to 03:00 AM Dawn
Fourth Prahar: 03:00 AM to 06:00 AM Till
Preparation for Shivratri Puja
1. Bath and Sankalp:
Take a bath in the morning and wear clean clothes.
Take a vow to fast and make up your mind to worship Lord Shiva.
2. Preparation of the place of worship:
Install the idol of Lord Shiva or Shivling at a clean place in the house or temple.
Keep Gangajal, milk, curd, honey, ghee, sugar, Belpatra, Dhatura, Aak flowers, sandalwood, incense, lamp, fruits and sweets for worship.
Shivratri Puja Vidhi
1. Perform Abhishek with Gangajal and Panchamrit
First of all, bathe the Shivling with Gangajal.
After this, mix milk, curd, honey, ghee and sugar and perform Abhishek with Panchamrit.
Bathe again with Gangajal.
2. Offer Puja Materials
Offer Belpatra, Dhatura, Aak flowers, sandalwood and ash on the Shivling.
Light a lamp and perform the Aarti of Lord Shiva by showing incense.
Chant the Shiva mantra “Om Namah Shivaya”.
3. Recite Shiva Mahima
Recite Shiva Chalisa, Shiva Purana or Mahamrityunjaya Mantra.

4. Night vigil and four prahar worship
Performing four prahar worship on the night of Mahashivratri has special significance.
Perform Abhishek of Shivling in each prahar and chant “Om Namah Shivaya”.
Perform Bhajan-Kirtan and perform night vigil.
5. Aarti and Prasad distribution at the end
Shivratri Puja: Perform Shiva Aarti after the worship of the last prahar at night.
Distribute Prasad and observe the end of the Shivaratri fast the next morning.
