Mayank Agarwal, the young opener of the Indian team, has entered the top ten for the first time in the list released by the ICC on Tuesday. Mayank has finished tenth in the recently concluded series against Bangladesh with the help of his superb batting and double century, before he was ranked 13th. Four players from India are among the top ten batsmen of the ICC.
In this, Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Mayank Agarwal are named. Australia’s Steve Smith leads the batting with 931 points. Team India captain Virat Kohli is at second place with 928 points. There is now a gap of three points between Virat and Steve Smith. There is no change in the ranking to five places. Mayank was first in 13th position but after scoring a double century against Bangladesh, he has moved up three places. At the same time, Rohit Sharma has dropped out of the top ten, slipping three places. Cheteshwar Pujara (791) is fourth and Ajinkya Rahane (759) is at number five. England’s Stokes also climbed three places to reach the top ten. Mushfiqur Rahim of Bangladesh has moved up four places to 26th place, having scored 74 runs in Kolkata Test.
