Location and Features

Tesla’s New Delhi Experience Centre will open at Worldmark 3 in Aerocity near the Palam airport. The centre, spread over approximately 4,000 sq ft, will serve customers across the National Capital Region (NCR). Aerocity is a luxury commercial hub that houses many upscale hotels, Fortune 500 offices, and premium retail outlets.

At this centre, Tesla will showcase its advanced EVs, including the popular Model Y. Customers will have access to test drives here. The showroom will act as a hub for sales and after-sales support.

Tesla’s Mumbai outlet is located at Maker Maxity Mall in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) and spread across 4,000 sq ft. This outlet set the stage for Tesla’s retail strategy in India, offering a premium experience for customers. The Delhi showroom follows the same approach, ensuring consistency in Tesla’s brand experience across key Indian cities.

Tesla Model Y: Pricing and Variants in India

Currently, Tesla will introduce only the Model Y rear-wheel-drive (RWD) SUV here, which will be available in two variants — Standard RWD (₹59.89 lakh ex-showroom price), offering a range of 500 km per charge and Long Range RWD (₹67.89 lakh ex-showroom price), with an extended range of 622 km.

Due to India’s high import duties on completely built-up (CBU) vehicles, the Model Y carries a premium over its international pricing. Deliveries are expected to commence in Q3 2025 and registrations are currently limited to Delhi, Gurugram, and Mumbai.

India’s EV push and Tesla’s role

Tesla’s entry aligns with India’s goal of achieving 30% EV penetration by 2030, supported by initiatives like the PM E-Drive scheme and state-level incentives. In March, the Union Government introduced a new EV policy offering reduced import duties for companies adhering to local manufacturing. Tesla is reportedly planning to establish a manufacturing unit in India, which will help it offer vehicles at reduced prices.

What is the PM E-Drive scheme?

The Prime Minister’s Electric Drive Revolution for Innovative Vehicle Enhancement or PM E-Drive is a government initiative to boost EV adoption and foster an EV ecosystem. The initiative promotes sustainable mobility by offering financial incentives to buyers, facilitating the expansion of the charging infrastructure, and enhancing testing facilities for EVs.

Why Tesla’s Delhi Showroom Matters

By establishing a presence in the capital, Tesla is tapping into the NCR’s affluent customer base and reinforcing its brand as a leader in sustainable mobility. With its location, premium offerings, and alignment with India’s e-mobility goals, Tesla aims to make a lasting impact on the country’s automotive landscape.
