Google has issued a warning for new users of Huawei smartphones. Google recommends not sideloading your apps and services, such as Gmail and YouTube, as these are not available for preload or sideload on new Huawei devices.
On 16 May 2019, the US government included Huawei in its entity list. This government action prevents all US companies, including Google, from collaborating with Huawei.
This means that Google is not allowed to work with Huawei on new device models or to preload or download Google’s apps, including Gmail, Maps, YouTube, Play Store, and others.
Android and Play Legal Director Tristan Ostrovsky said in a statement on Friday, “Google Play Store, Google Play Protect and Google’s main apps (Gmail, YouTube, Maps and Including others) are available only on Play Protect certified devices. ”
Currently US law allows Google to work with Huawei only on device models available to the public on or before 16 May 2019.
