Almost all the state governments along with the central government in the country have also implemented themselves in government jobs. A major decision has been taken by the Government of Punjab regarding government jobs. The Punjab government has reduced the retirement age of government employees under the state government.
After implementing the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission, a decision has been taken by the state government to reduce the retirement age of employees for the first time. Now the retirement age in Punjab has been reduced to 58 years. It was 60 years ago. Meaning now the employees of the state government will retire 2 years earlier than before. On this, it has been said by the Punjab government that they want to give opportunity to the youth, so it has been done.
Apart from this, free education for all students up to class 12 in the state and loan waiver for landless farmers were some of the major announcements made by Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal in the 2020-21 budget. A budget of Rs 1,54,805 crore was presented in the Legislative Assembly by the state government.
while the state government decided against the imposition of any new tax, Badal announced a waiver of change of land use (CLU) fee for two years for new industries falling outside the municipal limits and vegetables. But reduced the mandi duty from 4 to 1 percent.
The budget placed Rs 100 crore to give 10 lakh free smartphones to the youth, which was one of the major electoral promises of the ruling Congress. Badal in his fourth budget speech said that due to the outbreak of coronavirus in China, the delivery of the smartphone has been stalled. We hope that the delivery of the smartphone will start from April 2020.
