The festive season has started across the country. Ganesh Chaturthi festival is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganesha in India as well as by the Indian diaspora. On this day, there is a bank holiday in most of the states across the country. But this time there is confusion in the minds of people regarding the bank holiday that when will the banks remain closed on the Ganesh Chaturthi holiday?

When is the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi?

This festival of Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated on the Chaturthi date of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month. This year, Chaturthi Tithi of Shukla Paksha will last from the afternoon of 18th September to the afternoon of 19th September. Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated on September 19 in most cities of the country.

When will banks be closed on Ganesh Chaturthi?

According to the RBI holiday calendar, banks will remain closed in some cities on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. Banks will remain closed in Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad on September 18 on the occasion of Varasiddhi Vinayak Vrat/Vinayak Chaturthi. Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bhubaneswar, Mumbai, Nagpur and Panaji banks will remain closed on Ganesh Chaturthi/Samvatsari (Chaturthi Paksha) on September 19. Apart from this, banks in Bhubaneswar and Panaji will be closed on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi (second day) / Nuakhai on 20th September.

Banks to remain close for half a month in October

Banks will remain closed for 15 days across the country in October. Banks will remain closed almost across the country on October 2, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. At the same time, there will be a bank holiday in Kolkata on 14th October on the occasion of Mahalaya. Banks will remain closed in Guwahati on October 18 on the occasion of Kati Bihu. Banks will remain closed in Agartala, Guwahati, Imphal and Kolkata on the occasion of Durga Puja (Maha Saptami) on October 21.

Banks closed in Agartala, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kanpur, Kochi, Kohima, Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, Shillong and Thiruvananthapuram on October 23 on the occasion of Dussehra (Mahanavami) / Ayudha Puja / Durga Puja / Vijayadashami. Will stay. Banks will remain closed on October 24 on the occasion of Dussehra/Dussehra (Vijayadashami)/Durga Puja.

Gangtok will remain closed on the occasion of Durga Puja (Dasai) on 25th October. Banks will remain closed in Gangtok, Jaipur and Srinagar on the occasion of Durga Puja (Dasai) on October 26. There will be a bank holiday in Gangtok on 27th October on the occasion of Durga Puja (Dasai). Banks will remain closed in Kolkata on October 28 on the occasion of Lakshmi Puja. Banks will remain closed in Ahmedabad on October 31, the birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
