Who won Pakistan elections 2024: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Sunday officially announced the final results of the general elections held on Thursday. According to the information, independent candidates supported by the party of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan emerged victorious by securing the largest share with 101 seats.

The announcement of results has been delayed amid concerns raised by various political parties, leading to protests by some people. The Election Commission released the results of 264 seats out of a  total 265. At the same time, due to alleged fraud, the results of NA 88 seat of Khushab in Punjab were stopped. Its result is expected to be revealed after the complaints are resolved.

Additionally, the election for one seat was postponed following the unfortunate demise of a candidate.

Who won Pakistan elections 2024: Independent candidates, mainly supported by Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), secured 101 seats in the National Assembly. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), led by three-time former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, secured 75 seats, making it technically the largest party in Parliament. Bilawal Zardari Bhutto’s Pakistan People’s Party got 54 seats, while Karachi-based Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) got 17 seats. The remaining 12 seats were captured by smaller parties.

To form the government, a party needs to secure 133 seats out of the 265 contested in the National Assembly. Overall, a simple majority requires 169 of the 336 seats in the National Assembly, including seats reserved for women and minorities. Their decision will be taken later.

Meanwhile, full results of provincial assemblies of Punjab, Sindh and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have been declared. However, the results of three Balochistan Assembly seats are still pending.

Who won Pakistan elections 2024: 296 seats in Punjab were contested, with independents claiming 138 seats, PML-N trailing by a narrow margin with 137 seats, while other parties secured 21 seats. Of the 130 seats in Sindh that were contested, results for 129 have been declared, the ECP has ordered re-polling in one constituency due to corruption concerns. In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, results of 112 out of 113 seats were declared, while the result of one seat was withheld.

Earlier, elections for two seats were postponed due to the death of two candidates.
