In observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Tata Power-DDL’s Social Impact Group orchestrated the distribution of aids and appliances for individuals facing various challenges. The event, held to mark the significance of this international day, saw the provision of motorized tricycles, tricycles, hearing aids, walkers, crutches, and wheelchairs to 60 beneficiaries with disabilities.
The occasion was distinguished by the presence of Ganesh Srinivasan, CEO of Tata Power-DDL, alongside other senior officials from the company. The event also welcomed Para athlete Narayan Thakur, who served as the guest of honor. Thakur, a remarkable Para athlete, earned a bronze medal in the men’s 200m-T35 final at the 4th Asian Para Games 2023.
The aids and appliances distributed aim to enhance the mobility and overall well-being of persons with disabilities. This initiative underscores Tata Power-DDL’s commitment to social responsibility and fostering inclusivity within the community, providing tangible support to those who benefit from these essential aids.
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is observed every December 3. It’s a day to focus on promoting the rights and well-being of people with disabilities globally. The United Nations declared this day in 1992 to raise awareness about the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities and to advocate for their inclusion in society. Each year, there’s a specific theme addressing key issues, such as accessibility and equal opportunities. The day encourages celebrating the achievements of people with disabilities and calls for collective efforts to create a more inclusive world.
