Tata Power-DDL urges customers not to burn effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna & Meghanada near electrical installations

Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL), a leading utility supplying electricity to a populace of 7 million in North Delhi, appeals to Delhiites not to burn effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna and Meghanada near Electrical Installations and Overhead Power Lines during Dussehra celebrations as it may be dangerous and may interrupt power supply to hospitals and other essential services resulting in inconvenience to all.

Tata Power Delhi Distribution, on its part, is organising an extensive safety drive for its consumers and field staff to reduce the chances of electricity-related occurrences.

The company is also running a dedicated mass awareness campaign and extensively using social media through its corporate mascot Roshni to urge consumers to ensure safety during the festivity.

It is also sensitizing school children and RWA members through online and offline modes on various aspects of electrical and fire safety. Safety-related tips are also being provided to consumers via newspapers and are aired through FM Radio.

Tata Power – DDL continuously work towards ensuring a safer festive season and in this quest our team has checked more than 2 Lakh installations including plain cement and concrete (PCC) poles, street light poles, stay wires, towers, rail poles, fencing of sub stations, feeder & service pillars, PWD Poles, MCD Poles, ATMs & Lights installed in parks were checked for any unsafe situation / hazard & rectifications thereof.

Company’s field staff, operations and Maintenance teams are on the job to reduce the chances of electricity-related occurrences, and in this regard, we urge our customers to remain alert and follow the safety guidelines to protect themselves and their loved ones from any potential electricity-related accident.

There is a special focus on ensuring illumination at public places and roads, the company said, and added a special streetlight and high mast light maintenance drive has already been conducted ahead of the start of the festive season. Mass awareness is being created for use of ELCB/RCCB at homes for ensuring electrical safety.
