Pankaj Udhas News: Famous ghazal and playback singer Pankaj Udhas passed away on Monday at the age of 72 due to prolonged illness, his family confirmed the news.

His daughter Nayaab expressed the family’s grief through a post Instagram. She wrote in the post, ‘With a heavy heart, we are sad to inform you about the tragic demise of Padmashree Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024 due to prolonged illness.’

As soon as the news Udhas’ demise revealed, sympathy and RIP messages throng from the fan. Condolence messages continued to pour in, reflecting the widespread impact of the singer’s musical legacy.

Udhas died around 11 am at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai and the last rites will be performed on Tuesday. The late singer is survived by his wife Farida Udhas, daughters Nayaab and Reva Udhas, and brothers Nirmal and Manhar Udhas, both of whom are also accomplished singers.

He is best known for the songs “Chithi Aayi Hai” from Mahesh Bhatt’s 1986 film “Naam”, “Chandi Jaisa Rang Hai” from Praveen Bhatt’s 1998 film “Ek Hi Maksaad” and the famous song from Feroz Khan’s 1988 film “Dayawaan” — “Aaj Phir Tumpe”.

His brilliant ghazals include acclaimed albums like “Aahat” (1980) and evergreen tracks like “Na Kajre Ki Dhar,” “Aur Aahista Kijiye Baatein,” “Ek Taraf Uska Ghar,” and “Thodi Thodi Piya Karo.”
