UP Cabinet Expansion Latest News: Adopting a strong strategy ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday expanded his cabinet, the first expansion in his second term. The reshuffle includes two new faces from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), one from the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and one from the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP).

Dara Singh Chauhan, who returned to BJP after being with Samajwadi Party last year, and BJP MLA from Sahibabad Sunil Kumar Sharma have been given place in the cabinet. Apart from this, RLD MLA from Purkaji, Muzaffarnagar Anil Kumar and SBSP chief OP Rajbhar also took oath as ministers.

UP Cabinet Expansion Latest News: This cabinet expansion took place in the presence of Governor Anandiben Patel and CM Yogi Adityanath. The main objective of this move is to strengthen the BJP in different parts of the state in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

After taking the oath, Sunil Kumar Sharma said, “I will carry out the work given to me by the Chief Minister and the party responsibly. This time we will win all 80 seats in the Lok Sabha elections…”

UP Cabinet Expansion Latest News: With the new changes, the total number of members in the Uttar Pradesh Council of Ministers is now 52. These include 18 Cabinet Ministers, 14 Ministers of State (Independent Charge) and 20 Ministers of State. The extension came after RLD leader Jayant Choudhary’s meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda, strengthening the RLD’s alliance with the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA). RLD has already declared the names of its candidates in Bijnor and Baghpat for the upcoming general elections.

Chandan Chauhan, the sitting MLA from Mirapur in Muzaffarnagar, is set to contest from Bijnor, while senior RLD leader Dr. Rajkumar Sangwan will contest from Baghpat Lok Sabha seat.

UP Cabinet Expansion Latest News: Dara Singh Chauhan, who had lost the Ghosi assembly by-election last year after returning to the BJP, got elected to the UP Legislative Council in January and won. Whereas, Sunil Kumar Sharma represents Sahibabad assembly constituency of Ghaziabad district.

Similarly, OP Rajbhar rejoined the BJP-led NDA in 2023, marking a significant comeback for him in politics. While Rajbhar represents Zahurabad assembly constituency in Ghazipur district, Anil Kumar is the MLA from Purkazi (a seat reserved for Scheduled Castes) in Muzaffarnagar.
